Shouldn't wish for too much after all.

Very sorry, but I'm losing hope.

Friday, September 29, 2006

It's Friday!

HA! I was caught by surprise that it's actually FRIDAY today! How magical. Haha.

Common test was a scorer! I wrote everything I can think of ranging from IMF, SARS, tsunami, katrina, bird flu to the economic crisis that happened during the year 1997. I think I wrote more, much more. 1 1/2 page for a pathetic 10 marks question. I'm the last one to finish the paper too. I needed 2 papers. Smacking good, ppl! That's why I'm emphasizing to all juniors to take Geog when they are picking their subjects; you don't even have to study. There's nothing to study anyway. Geog's all about general knowledge, I personally feel. Btw, ask me why is there still a common test after Prelims??

English lesson made me laugh the most, other than the totally dressing of -no coordination- of someone. I thought Nish played some music at the back, and I guess everyone knew it. Well anyway, who bothers? Until Miss Ng probed about it when the music went really loud.

Ms Ng: Who's playing the music?!
Raj: Ms Ng, there's no one playing the music, it's the satellite that is disrupting.

LMAO! What an idea! As a very nice pushover (Ms Ng) to CK, he shooted her with vulgarities. It's not very nice. After all, she's still a kind teacher and we must be benevolent to all her doings. Haha. *ahem* Not forgetting to mention about some girls in class who kept giggling and screeching away. It's not just irritating (no offence). It's more than coincidence that Eileen, Rachel, Dewi and I are sitting around the pentagon-shaped table, cause we practise similar etiquette. Ah, thank goodness!

____on my way to Geog class___
Sneaked in a sonata on the piano. HeeHee. So you can guess how long had Mr Poogan kept us waiting. Hmmm, good thing there's a piano outside his class. Kill-timer. And we are doing maps, maps and maps everytime. Getting a little bored. It's the same ol thing.

Rachel wants to be a a bridesmaid desperately, when she saw Eileen eating the Lao Po Bing.

F&N was fun and crazy. Well, as tense as usual still. Contradicting? It's just the 1st half and 2nd half thingy.

Out of a class of 35, only 13, 13 went for the Chemistry extra lesson (practical), including me of course. Ha. Learnt new things about the Thiosulphate Iodide. The last experiment was like magic. Colours change in a split second before you know it when I've mixed the solutions a couple of minutes ago. COOL.

Check out YouTube on 'Devuda Devuda', so savoury ;). Type in Arutunian too, it's funny. Maksim's the best experience. So sensational~

Hey, I'll remember ok? Haha. Don't worry. I'll NEVER forget a date. Ah, tmr will be a BZ day. =). PLE?

QUIZZES!!

Cheering up...

This is so devastating. But fret not, I'm in the process of piling my foundation of my gorgeous castle. =)

Wednesday, September 27, 2006

Do this.

HERE!

I'm not tagging. So DON'T be spastic and be tagged.

No Ad, Just My Day.

I won the 2nd prize of the Final Catergory (Sec 4E/5N) for the Chinese Essay Competition! Yeah. Er, but it's just a $10 popular voucher. MinZhi got first and YanWen, third. Happy though. And it's my 2nd time shaking the VPs hand. HeeHee. 3rd time I got a prize for the Chinese Essay Competition. 5th time getting recognition in front of the whole school. OOPS!

Physics lesson planned by Miss Teo was a flop. She intended to do 2 experiments with us but she herself ended up talking the whole time. Ta-Dah! 10 min left to start on the FIRST experiment. After setting up, the bell went. Luckily I did it quickly and recorded all the readings. Saved from doing it another time =). Had Chemistry +1 after that. It's all MCQ *yeah!!* and the answer sheet they gave us was full of errors. So, forget it.

Ah, Chinese, my slacking period. Yvonne and I chilled at the platform with those huge cushions *hugs (till the cushion dies of aphyxidation)*. Hmm, phones. I regretted selling my Nokia3230 away. Kill me for that. What else? Hmm. Btw, the results of Chemistry of my class: 2 C6, 1 D7, 5 E8 and 27 F9. How cool is that?

For PC, we had sex education in the hall with the whole 4E/5N. It's those usual things. Shall not elaborate here. Kinda lame actually. Eileen told me that almost the whole class of Chinese banded 404 talked about me. Cause there's a girl in the ZaoBao who looked alot like me. After flipping through the papers, I have to agree. Haha.

Came home for a shower and went to the AMK lib to study with Eileen. E-math. It lasted for 3 hours and we were not the least bit distracted! Damn cool. I realised that studying with smart kids makes you part of them. wOw! I taught her some questions. How's that? HeeHee. Even when her bf came along, she didn't get distracted. LOL. Cause her bf's from ACS(I). The way he does math makes you shiver. And we were sharing tables with a ACJC girl. 2 ACs. HA! I think the library is a better place to study than at home, my home. Therefore, Van shall study at the lib everyday! =)

I dunno why, I'm tired. Fatal attraction's not you.

St Ives

This is the Invigorating Apricot Scrub (the packaging that's of apricot colour). On the packaging, it says: Oil Free. Gently exfoliates dull surface cells to instantly reveal smooth, radiant skin. All skin types.

For an economical scrub, it is VERY NICE. It enlarges the pores alot. So it'll be very effective if you use a blackhead remover after that. You'll see wonders! It's very sweet smelling too. I believed that they've used natural products for the scrub. As it is not those round and beady ones that you see in most scrubs in the market.

Now to the Peel-Off Hydroxy Masque (the white one). It says on the packaging that it removes impurities and gently exfoliates with an alpha & beta hydroxy complex to leave skin rejuvenated, smooth and radiant. All skin types.

Now, this is what I call a daily mask. It's cheap and you will feel your skin very smooth and hydrated. It's a good product for teenagers, I personally feel. Because it's not too overpowering or too chemicalised. It has a sweet apple smell. After you leave the mask to dry, it forms a dry layer like when the glue is dried and you can just peel it off in an instant. Well, I love that sensation. Haha.

Hmm, for people with VERY dehydrated complexion, I would recommend L'OREAL's whitening mask. The box is in white and the packaging for each mask is blue. You will love it, if only you have the budget for it, that is. Err, this mask can only be used at most once in two days. You won't want your skin to be numbed by the goodness of the mask.

P.S: St Ives products are not tested on animals =)

Shampoo & Facial prods.

There's an ad of a new shampoo that attracted alot of my friends to buy it. The company must be elated. A small part of the ad says that if we use the shampoo, our hair wouldn't have any tie marks after we tied our hair (even after a long time).

Obviously, most girls with long hair went to try it.

I'm like... BWG. I didn't use the shampoo and yet my hair doesn't have any tie marks after tying it (for a long time). Whilst my friends who'd used it, had tie marks.

OMG. It all voices down to the way you wash your hair and how do you manage it la. You know, washing your hair ONCE WITH ANY SHAMPOO is NOT clean enough. Go and ask your hairdresser/ hairstylist, they'll give you the best advice. If comfortable, you can also consult me. HeeHee. I dun accept consultancy fees from my friends at this point of time. Haha.

Hmm, I'm trying out the St. Ives Apricot Scrub and Mask now. Shall blog about it tomorrow to tell the results =).

Seems like this is a medium for me to advertise. Right, Suky? ;)

Result of my practising!! ;)

You Have Fantastic Karma
You are a kind, sensitive, and giving person.
And all your good deeds will pay off - if they haven't already.
But you're not so concerned with what you get in return anyway.
You have an innate caring nature - and nothing can change that!

Hehe.

You Are a Powdered Devil's Food Donut
A total sweetheart on the outside, you love to fool people with your innocent image.
On the inside you're a little darker, richer, and more complex.
You're a hedonist who demands more than one pleasure at a time.
Decadent and daring, you test the limits of human indulgence.

Hey, do I look that old?! I never zhang da la! Not yet. Haha. And I didn't rebond my hair again. The last time I did it was the 1st and last, which is like last October.

We played Star Trek and Mermaid today. I was studying and playing at the same time and I actually memorised digestion?! Haha. Hansel saved me man. Ah, Faith and BaoHui were having fun blowing my hair. So lame. In the end, Hansel, Faith, BaoHui and I fooled around doing real STUPID things. Don't Know Much

Aaron Neville & Linda Ronsdant - Don't know much

Look at this face
I know the years are showing
Look at this life
I still don't know where it's going

I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be all I need to know.

Look at these eyes
They've never seen what mattered
Look at this dream,
So beaten and so battered

I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be all I need to know.

So many questions
Still left unanswered
So much I've never broken through
And when I feel you near me
Sometimes I see so clearly
The only truth I've ever known
Is me and you

Look at this man
So blessed with inspiration
Look at this soul
Still searching for salvation

I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be all I need to know

I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be all I need to know

I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be all there is to know

Chemistry vs K-Boxing!

I only slept for 2 hours and mugged for the rest of the time. So you know, I'm having half-opened eyes which are sorish. I shall complete this post before I do anymore mugging!

Chemistry paper was a goner. We didn't bother to study for the MCQ paper and just went to play the piano the whole time.

I walked home under the super duper HOT sun and I think I got a heat stroke or smth when I start to see the ground moving and reflections (stars) of everything, everywhere. Mama gave me some chinese herb congee. YUCKS! It's sour and yet she say that it's good for my health. Aiyah, took it anyway.

Met FongYee and proceeded to Heeren first. Wanted to buy TeensVogue but dropped the thought after considering the price. Blah blah. Sat at KFC for some popcorn chicken and that's our dinner. Quite pathetic ah? GuangYi came and got Subway. Ahh, yes yes. We were eating junk. Drey came along with our identical bags. Haha. Cool. We played a round of pool, mind you, A ROUND. Expectedly, we went to K-Box which is just like next to it. WAH. The price is damn steep. We had fun though. So much growling and groaning, not because of the 2 rounds of Shirley Temple, of course.

PLAIN FUN.

How else can I describe it? A guy and 3 girls. Ah, the guys at K-Pool were just irritating. Kept staring and staring. BAH.

Fun fun. Shall go for SNCO tmr. Suky and Ling are going! Dickson and Faith too! Who else? FongYee, Audrey and Guangyi, of course. Thinking too much. Shall go and mug more now.

Chow~

POA prelim

WAH! I did 2 prelim papers on a subject that I don't understand at all! Haha. Managed to scrape through though, by memorising. The MCQ was kinda easy. Ha. Cos I went to memorise all the principles, errors and concepts. Eh, but I forget about the imprest system and contra. Die, I gotta study harder! Tomorrow will be Chemistry and Science (physics, chemistry) MCQ which will last until 12nn. Then I shall walk home, shower, take a nap, shower, study a little, meet FongYee, shop, study a little more and play pool and study at the same time. Heh.

I MUST STUDY!

And I wanted to upload some pix due to boredom. Hah. BUT... I lost my adaptor!! !@#$%^&*&^%$#@!@##$$#@#!@#$%.

E-math paper 2

I'll be happy enough if I can get a C6.

Came home after everything around noon, went online and got Drey's message. LOL. So impromptu la. Haha. But I like it, friends should be spontaneous. Even though she's late for an hour cos of the red and green thingy, HAHA!

We did everything we could do at J8. Coffee Bean, shop, talk, eat, movie.. blah blah. We caught the movie: Singapore Dreaming. It's a Singapore movie production. For those who haven't seen it, go and watch! Although it's simple, it brings out the common things in Singaporeans. Laughters in the beginning and crying in the end. I went super emo and cried like crazy especially the part where the wife turned back and saw her dead husband bidding farewell to her whilst drinking her 'liangteh'. I couldn't stop the tears. Ahh.

Enjoyed myself alot today with Drey and FINALLY psycho'd her to join us on Fri! Yea! I've got a partner that day. Woohoo~

Let's mug for Accounts!

Geography Prelim

I looked through my text the night before and didn't spot anything interesting so I went to sleep.

This is the paper which most ppl give up on. Many just slept throughout. I donked out for 10 min and came back to it. The paper has nothing to do with the text except for one pathetic question on the Green Revolution. General knowledge, anyway. I chose agriculture and tourism. Map was a flop.

I seriously pity the History students. They have to memorise the text like crazy and get stressed over forgetting them. Mao Ze Dong was one of the things they have to answer. I know nuts about him. Human should look forward to the future right?

Yes, Geog's MUCH MORE practical.

Tomorrow'll be E-math paper 2. No comment.

I'm going to burn that crave for shopping on Friday with FongYee followed by a pool game with Drey, FongYee and Archangel. I'M DYING TO SHOP!

P.S: SaSa's got a nice post on roses and their meanings. Check it out! It's cool.

Ooh La La~

I'm asked to play for the end of year Soka Kindergarden Concert!! I'm so happy! I'm going to play a quartet with two other flautists and a baritone sax player. Gosh gosh. My kindergarden...

The forever glorious Soka Kindergarden!!

"We are the future, strong with hope
We are the children of the sun
Come are the future, strong with hope
Righteous children of the sun
Learn with joy, free to grow
Happy children of the sun"

Yup, that's my kindergarden school song. Just imagine the people I'm going to see: My Chinese teacher, Music teacher, English teacher, Art Teacher, the Aunts and many other teachers. Wonder if the calligraphy teacher is still there. HA! Not forgetting my beloved juniors. I haven't seen them before, but I know that they'll be the most adorable kids. (+_+)

Physics Prelim

As I've mentioned in my previous post, I vomited and have been vomiting ever since. Quite bulimia-ic ah? I think it's due to the LJS last night.

After last night's/ this morning's pathetic cramming cum mugging session, I thought I was rather well-prepared for the paper, but who could've thought...

I was late for school. Nvm, I shall not blame the bus that broke down halfway. Maybe I should've continued my walk-to-school exercise. Sway ah. Already running (the whole group of us), the security guard shut the gate right on my face and he said:"Ay girl, go by the front gate".

Tada! First time late for school. Stupid! Spoil my beautiful record.

People were irritated therefore some went for breakfast and others went home and I'm the only one going to school LATE. Taking my own sweet time, I saw YiShan and her sis. So dumb, she jio me for breakfast. Like as if I will. Ha. Van was already stricken with guilt.

Mr Phua took the late-coming thing. Had to do detention after sch for 1 hour.

Did the paper, it was okay. Miss Goh summoned us to the F&N room. Luckily I went, cos she gave us hints for what's coming out in prelims. LaLa~ Lesser study load.

Reported for detention and it was just a plain wastage of my precious time. Hmm, what did I do during detention? Stared into space and talk to friends who past by (during their recess). The next half hour was pretty bored so I started my sms punching marathon. Haha. Text many people. Some said that they cannot link Vanessa and Detention together. I thought so too. I HAD a clean record.

Was it coincidence or what? I saw my primary school chinese teacher, Wang Lao Shi (if FongYee/ PeiJun remember her), outside my school. She's one of my fav. Haha. She stays near my sch and is already retired. She shouted my chinese name and when I saw her, I was so ecstatic! WANG LAO SHI, I addressed her quite hyper-ly. Haha. Told her it was my prelims and about my O lvl chinese results and she was very happy for me.

Her encouragement: *my chinese name*, you can do it. I've seen you as a very hardworking girl and I'm sure you will excel in your studies.

Bloody hell, I was so touched. I bet NONE of my sch teachers will encourage us like that. I. I'm afraid that I'll disappoint her. Sigh. I'll work hard though. Well, at least there's a source of encouragement.

Wanted to change my skin, but changed my mind. I added a tagboard for SUKY (eh, for you! Haha).

Heh. I found out a secret. Another one.

Met twice, Van's agonised.

Finally

I've just vomited and hope that the feeling will fade away soon enough. Couldn't sleep the whole night (maybe due to the last min mugging). Stupid person make me think so much. Well, hope all goes well for Physics Prelim later. And stop feeling nauseous and sick, for Goldie also.

Gd Luck, Van.

Slacked again

It's Physics prelim tomorrow and I'm out the whole day today. Arrgh, gotta mug alot tonight.

I got my haircut!! Yea! Now I have a short fringe and a layered V-shape hair! V=Van =). I went there like 10a.m. to make sure that I'm the first customer, if not I'll have to wait for a long long time. Mama (Grandma) brought me there. After the haircut, we went to have breakfast at Thai Express. The food isn't nice at all and worse still, two bowls of kway teow soup and two glasses of hot green tea cost $30. I'm not going there anymore.

Went for SWO prac after that. Thought I would just take the tickets and leave but I couldn't stand the temptation and played on Amer's clarinet. HeeHee. The sound came through so effortlessly. Only then I realised there're problems with the clarinets I always get. Haha. We played Spiral Resonance, Alvamar (maybe as encore piece), Folk Song Suite and others. Yes, we played all the typical band songs today due to the attendance, I think. The most challenging one is Spiral Resonance. CANON man, and it's repeating with the very difficult to coordinate fingering. Nvm, I shall practise! Vivian came back from China and got us some souveniers. Goldie and I got bracelets from Tibet. The others are too eerie. Haha.

Dinner was at Long John Silver. Btw, what does it mean whenever I smell or eat fried food, I'll get nauseous?? So scary.

Something weird happened when I played the piano before prac. Ok, I know what's happening and what is going through the mind but... wrong timing, very wrong. I kinda regret what I say. But I won't and I can't. Don't do this to me when O lvl is soooo near. I'm sorry.

Party and plans

Party was a blast! Dead tired now. Haha. There's wonderful ambience, string ensemble, hosts, people and intellect dialogues.

Met up with Mummy and her friends after that. They decided that we would go to ShangHai and Bali after my exams. LOL. Like it was impromptu. But maybe they'll clash with my concerts or their rehearsals, so I'm trying my best to arrange. Haha. There will be 2 upcoming trips with them to KL for Club Med and some singer's concert and JB for cheap haircare sessions and Jackie Chan's movie which will be launching there.

YEAH! Uncle XiuMan is going to give me free tix for Sandy Lam and WaKin's upcoming concerts. Heh, his contacts are great man! Wow wow, I'm going to see stars (as in singers, actors, actresses, etc), many of them. HAHA!

Ann Kok was there too. She's Uncle Louis's sis; I almost forgot. Haha. She's very pretty now, even though it was just a gathering with friends. Ah.. The last time I saw her was like 4 months ago when I attended Aunt SK's party. It was 11p.m. then but she's still very well-composed.

Yes, I got an appointment with the hairstylist tomorrow. Hmm, maybe I'll cut my fringe and trim my hair ends! You'll see a brand new me tomorrow! I mean, later. Haha. The first would be SWO. Cos the appt's in the morning and I'm going to collect the tickets.

Lovely day.

A short essay for Youths by Ikeda Sensei

Youth is a time of rapid change, from day to day and moment to moment. It can also be a time of confusion. You may feel as if you are standing alone in a wasteland or on a battlefield. Sometimes you may think you can't believe in anyone, that no one loves you, or even that you have no reason to live.

Grades at school or university are probably not your only worries. You may have problems at home, with money or health, with how you feel about your looks, with members of the opposite sex, or with friends. From feeling confident and upbeat one moment, you may be overwhelmed with insecurity, frustration or apathy the next.

You may have fundamental questions about yourself and your identity: Who am I? What should I do with my life? It is quite natural to feel unsure about the best way to proceed. If you haven't yet decided on your future course, I feel the best thing is just to concentrate your energies on what you need to do right now, and gradually your full potential will emerge.

The most important thing is not to give up on yourself when you are young, giving in to negativity or cynicism. Don't compare yourself with others. Be true to who you are and try to cherish and feel content with your own irreplaceable life. Even if you're sometimes laughed at, or people let you down, keep going forward and never let yourself be defeated.

Setting yourself targets is a good idea. Even if you have the tendency to only stick at something for two or three days, just keep renewing your determination. When you're studying and you think, "I can't do any more; I want to go out," you may decide to challenge yourself to keep going for just another five minutes. People who can persevere even this much will achieve great things in life.

Youth is the time for building your foundation in life. You can't build a tall building without first making its foundations solid and secure. In the same way, if you neglect study or shy away from hard work while you're young, you can't really build yourself a great future.

A smooth, easy life in which everything goes your way may seem great, but you won't be able to develop your character if everything always works out according to plan. You may even become spoiled — a person who can't think about others and who is no help when things get tough.

If your parents are poor or lacking education, or they're always quarreling with each other, try not to think yourself unlucky. This is a truly human situation which will help you develop as a person. You may feel it would have been better to be born into a rich or successful family. But often people who grow up in such a world act like well-behaved automatons, bound by formality, tradition and appearances, lacking genuine warmth and spontaneity.

There is no such thing as a whole life of smooth sailing. Therefore, you do yourself a favor by taking on difficult challenges, forging and strengthening yourself in your youth, while you're healthy and strong. I hope you can see all difficulties as the material that will enable you to develop a big heart and become people of depth and substance.

Try to be as active as possible. Just by being young you possess a treasure more valuable than power or fame. To be young is to have hope, passion and freedom. Your whole life lies ahead of you, brimming with possibilities.

Rather than a life of blank pages, it's better to live a life crammed full of memories of struggles and wonderfully varied experiences. Not to make waves, not to leave behind any history, but just to grow old and die, is a sad way to live.

Don't wait! While still in your youth, you can become the main actors in the human drama unfolding around you, the shapers of history. Even if you feel powerless, that it is difficult to believe in yourself, please try not to be easily swayed by the views of others, and hold true to what you know is right. Try to believe in yourself.

I hope you will develop sharp powers of perception, then lead the way in breaking through the apathy and stagnation of society around you. So many people are complacent, thinking, "Out of all these people, surely someone will do something." Such cowardly people avoid facing problems, assuming that everything will somehow work out in the end.

Please challenge the injustices and corruption you see around you—speak out and fight against any abuses of power and authority that you see. Confront and challenge every situation with the full force of your character. Live with honesty and integrity and produce results. Set your sights high and fight to achieve your goals with your whole being and spirit.

Edward Whymper was a young nineteenth-century English mountaineer who set out to climb the "unclimbable"—the Matterhorn in the Alps. Since ancient times it had never been scaled. At twenty-one, Whymper determined to succeed where no one had succeeded before. His first attempt failed, but he resolved not to give up, and year after year he pitted himself against the mountain. On one attempt he got within 430 meters of the summit, but he slipped and fell sixty meters and was seriously injured. Another time a rockfall forced him to descend. Seven times he was defeated, but he did not give up. On July 14, 1865, on his eighth attempt, at the age of twenty-five, he finally made it to the top.

Like him, by challenging a great goal, you can break through your limitations and realize incredible growth.

It all comes down to you. I hope you won't rely on others or wait for them to do something. Try to develop such a strong sense of responsibility that you can stand up to the fiercest storms, confidently proclaiming, "I'll do it. Just watch me!" Please confront reality, look it squarely in the face, and with guts, wisdom and strength, challenge everything that lies ahead of you.

Math Paper 1

I... forgot to bring my protractor, so I left out one whole question that's 6 marks. Sigh. Don't talk about it anymore.

Got not much inspiration for this post. Haha. So it might be quite meaningless.

I'm living in my own sanctuary.

Haha. Slogan eh?

I need something inspiring. Maybe I shall browse through WordsOfWisdom later and post some nice quotes. Heh.

Mummy brought us out for dinner at Ritz-Carlton. Had their buffet, very International. Haha. There's free flow of champagne, white/red wine, alcoholic/non-alcoholic cocktails, juices, tea, coffee, anything. Slurp, I'm still having that Oyster relish. Heh. Their caviar tasted very unique. Different from those we normally eat. Think they marinated them or something. Haiyo, hotel leh. It's quite ex, $120+++ per head, and there's like 5 of us; which multiplies up to around $600+++. Crazy, I know. Mummy and I talked alot about everything. Finally, she's treating me as a confidante =). She bought a new ** bag for me too! Haha. Luckily she told me earlier, if not I would've bidded the exact one on eBay. Hee. Mummy went super extravagant today. After dinner, we went to Meritius Mandarin for some lounging.

I'm very excited about tomorrow night. Hee. I'm invited to a PARTY at the Raffles Country Club, so Mummy bought a dress for me too at the Paragon. I know, I know, very extravagant. Parties, parties. Haha. I want more! Invite me more often, people. Let me hope that I'll get their products tomorrow. I'm not obliged to blog about their products/company, so I shouldn't. Ha.

Let me see if I'm going to meet Aunt Florence, Aunt Jennifer, Aunt Minah, Aunt Estella and their husbands there tomorrow. Heh. I'm getting too head over heels.

Look out for the quotes!

Addiction

I'm addicted to iWebMusic now. So I'll be changing songs everyday on my blog. Haha. Some'll be those to-die-for ones but there'll also be childhood songs, so it goes really OLD, O-BIANG and some really CHILDISH! But I like it that way. My blog OK? Not YOURS! Haha.

P.S: I'll put up some of my own playing on the piano (synthesizer la, but piano effects; so I can record and post to internet ma, haha.)! hee.

Social Studies Prelim

I think I'll just get a borderline pass. Cos i didn't plan my time and they only give us only 90 minutes to complete the SBQ and SEQ. Hey, we need to think and please allocate some time for us to use our brains! Or are we just expected to memorise every single detail without understanding a single statement and just be a scanner to write all the correct answers out. If that's the thing wanted from us, I think there's no need to enhance any creativity or whatsoever. Cos it's pointless! The SBQ is a total controversial topic. Haha.

FOREIGN TALENT

Just see:

1a) Study Source A.
Why do you think the Singaporean professional made this comment? [6]

b) Study Source B and C. (it's sourceS la! To think the setter is still an English teacher)
How are Sources B and C similar? (ah, now they realised) [6]

c) Study Source D.
Does Source D prove that Singaporeans are not in favour of recruiting foreign talent? [6]

d) Study all the sources.
Do the sources show that foreign talent is beneficial to Singapore? [7]

Sigh. There's a common thing in every question and that's: STUDY the sources. No time, how to study?? Let me show you another funny part that contradicts.

.......In answering the questions you should use your knowledge of the topic to help you interpret and evaluate the sources..

No time la! And this is just the beginning.

The question I chose for SEQ which I also think is the easiest:

3) Singapore's Population Policies

a. To what extent is Singapore's population policy from the 1960s to the 1990s determined by economic concerns? Explain your answer. [12]

b. Is an ageing population more a burden than an asset to Singapore? Explain your answer. [13]

Let me tell you a secret, I didn't touch part b at all. And I did only a paragraph for part a. Oh, and did I mention that the sources they wanted us to 'study' are long?

Fyi, nobody in my knowledge completed the paper. All stuck. Except for some who totally give up on prelims.

After the paper's being collected by Mrs Quek, all of us started murmuring. ChinHong had a funny intepretation on Source B which is a speech given by Minister Mentor Mr Lee Kuan Yew to 1800 students at the Nanyang Technology University Students' Union 9th Ministerial Forum on 18 February 2003. ChinHong said something very hilarious. Haha. That's all about the paper.

After which, Eileen, Rach and I went to have breakfast @ Macs @ KB. Saw alot of ppl there. Basically we've already finished our food 2 hours ago but continued chatting until we lost track of time. Hmm, what did we say? Everything under the sun, I think. From Bloggers to Models to careers to studies to gaming to teachers to sisters to shopping to clothes........blah......blah. Girls' Talk =).

Thought that I could go to Parkway Parade for some spree but we went to Junction 8 instead. Sian ah. Saw HongKi!! Haha. I became a labourer and carried everything home and I spent $17 on something totally redundant. I'm getting that regretting streak. Ugh. Bad day.

Announcement

As you can see, I've changed the skin to one of Blogger's template; to allow readers to comment on my posts instead of flooding my tagboard about them. So please get things straight and comment and tag via the respective channels.

Read this

In accordance with the Buddhist principle of three thousand realms in a single moment of life [the all-encompassing nature of each moment], pessimistic thoughts or feelings take form, just as they are, in reality, producing negative results. People who have negative thoughts create effects for themselves that perfectly match their own thinking.

Inconspicuous virtue brings conspicuous reward. From the perspective of Buddhism, we never fail to receive the effect of our actions, whether good or bad; therefore, it's meaningless to be two-faced or to pretend to be something we're not.

English Prelim

Had English Prelim today. The papers were pretty manageable. Wondered why they set this kind of paper for prelims.

My banded class: 400, was OUTCASTED! Arrgh. We're supposed to be the ... and they did this to us. Standing at the back of the hall with people staring at all of you (especially when they dunno who's in that secretive banded 400 English Class) is super awkward with Mr Ng urging us. Haha. He's just so funny!

I think Miss Ng's gonna slash me. I wrote alot of poems on the paper 2's question paper and they collected it back. Seesh. No time to erase. I wrote them on the cover page some more. Sigh.

Guess what?

I don't have to go to school tomorrow! Yea! Cos it's Chinese prelims. LaLa~ I'm so glad that I did well for my chinese O's.

Forgive me for taking those redundant but fun blogthings testS.

I love my family! It's been 3 months since the whole family sat down for a nice dinner and talk. Listening to everyone confiding was just so fun!

-

Van shall stop Vanessa from crying any further.

Van wonders if Vanessa could sometimes be:

- a Gemini
- a psycho
- a cold-blooded creature
- a member of the Slytherin house
- crazier

Perhaps all these will stop Vanessa from crying.

I know, Van is trying very hard.

Together, I hope I'll be able to stop all these.

STOP!

Eeeyer

MSN has got a very big problem, I suspect, with me especially. I've been trying to go online for the past 3 hours. Even my Internet Explorer shares a similar problem. Took me 1 hour to come on to blogger or any websites. Seesh.

Wad a day to start prelims, September 11.

I think I'm going to flunk my Physics and Chemistry practical. Everybody has got different answers for almost every question. Can't wait to find out the right one. And Physics practical was very different from what we have been doing. Arrgh. They like to do this to us ah? There's a candle for us to 'play' with. Haha. Those that you get when you light scents.

It'll be prelim for English Language tomorrow.

Therefore I shall watch all these tonight:
- Grey's Anatomy
- Scrubs 4
- Frasier 11
- CSI Miami 2
- The Apprentice

Not forgetting to include: My Lovely Samsoon on Channel U!! Hehe.

Well well, I shall pray that I can access to MSN very very soon..

GOOD LUCK, Van.

SWO day...

I'm a total slacker.

I went for SWO prac instead of studying.

And prelim is tomorrow.

Very little people today. Play'd Mozart's, Haydn's, La Passio De Crist, Aida, Aroldo and alot more. Memory's failing.

I'm starting to hate myself.

Instead of going home straight after prac, the whole group of us went for dinner. 5 in Mr Ng's car and 6 of us in Thomas's van. (Van sat in a van). Haha. But... Ended up:
- Goldie and I talking.
- YaoZong and Luther talking.
- YeowHwee and Thomas talking.

Bleh.

Dinner was at the coffee shop. I had some very bland yong tau foo. Goldie couldn't eat. Haha. So Luther and YaoZong created jokes out of it. Especially the egg one. Damn funny. Haha. They also talked about the building structure thing, so lame la!

Goldie, dun eat POISON!!

So, end of day. Not much to talk about. I shall start mugging now.

Saturday, September 09, 2006

Embarrassed, thoroughly.

Woke up, felt bored, went for SSW prac. There's 2 new clarinetists, Joshua and Gerald. Played Beethoven's, Animation Medley and Princess Mononoke. ShuYuan was so kind to donate a set of Hi-Fi to the Sembawang CC's band room la. Very nice. One small flaw: no Mr Brown's podcast. Arrgh. Why? Nvm. Shall listen to it on my i-pod. Haha.

Heard Christian Lindberg's recording for his t-bone concerto: "motorbike concerto". Damn cool la. Should check it out. I think he's the best trombonist on earth. Listen to his recording and you'll know why. Had fun filming. LOL. He found out after all. Btw, I dun think I'm going down for SWO tmr, I gotta study! Ha.

Dragged my feet to SCC. Walau. FongYee sms'd me early in the morning (while I was still sleeping), to persuade our dear Faith to come for the combine prac with the strings. Play'd Pirates and Phantom. Most of our 'sleeping' members came back la. So cool. Nice nice, finally. Haha. Well, Desmond didn't come today and I play'd alone for my stand. JunWen was as lonely playing his 2nd and MeowLeng and Faith play'd 3rd. Very lame prac. Haha.
Someone said: "ok, let's start from bar 175"
The other someone said: "why not we start from bar 173? Got double bar line there."
And it goes on. Damn lame la. SNCO members should get what I mean. Haha.

LaLa~ After prac, I started to rant about that thing, yea. Drey was in a rush, so didn't talk much. The guys went to pubs and clubs after prac la. ...till I'm officially 18. Hehe. MoS, watch out.

So GuangYi and I were talking... until...

UK interrupted and said something super embarrassing. At first, I wondered how he know abt it. Or was it just so random from him. Thereafter then I realised that it was from GuangYi. Walau. Why saboh me of all people? If one day UK got my link, I'll look for you! Btw, include me in the mail leh. Haha. Imagine Orlando Bloom... (stop saboh-ing).

Ey, I won't saboh u la. Don't worry. I'm not as evil as you. Haha.

P.S: I don't think you've recovered from your eye infection, cos I'm getting sore eyes now.

THANK YOU AH! FOR THE EMBARRASSMENT AND SORE EYES!

I'm proud to announce.....

that Orlando Bloom is a SGI member!
omg. I think I'm going to love Wilde, Lord of the Rings (Legolas), Lord of the Rings trilogy, Black Hawk Down, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, Elizabethtown, and the two Pirates of the Caribbean.

I suddenly feel so proud of playing Pirates of the Caribbean. All the arrangements.

It's all found in the 15/9/06 SSA Times pg 14 & 15 which I just received today.

Profile of Orlando Bloom:
Orlando Bloom was born on January 13, 1977, in Canterbury, Kent, England. At the age of 16, he went to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to become an actor. His film debut was in Wilde (1997). At the age of 22, he was cast as Legolas in Lord of the Rings. The movies in the series went on to break international box office records, and won several academy awards. In addition to the Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001, 2001, 2003), he has appeared in Black Hawk Down (2001), Troy (2004), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Elizabethtown (2005), and the two Pirates of the Caribbean (2003 and 2006) films.

Mr Bloom presented Mr Ikeda with a card in which he had written:

Climbing Many Mountains
Lifetime after Lifetime at Your Side

Dear Sensei,
With the sword of the Lotus Sutra
at my side,
With integrity as my staff,
with you and all the Buddhas of
the ten directions as my mentor,
With konsen-rufu as my goal, I will
climb the mountainous path of the
Mystic Law until I gaze out from the peak.
There I will ready myself with gratitude
for the next adventure.
I look forward to climbing many mountains
lifetime after lifetime at your side.
Sincerely, your disciple and friend,
Orlando

I was so excited when I read the article. It's great inspiration.

Let me hope that he will come to Singapore one day and do something with the SNCO.
After many experiences with renowned artistes (SGI members) throughout the world, I want more!!

I'll dream of Orlando Bloom tonight.

Imagine him acting and we playing the Pirates of the Caribbean on stage next year.
Aww, it'll be a dream come true.

Emptiness

Sometimes, only sometimes.

I feel that,

Being an optimist or showing that happy face outside brings about emptiness in my heart.

I wondered,

And I searched within myself.

Can I show my true emotions?

Or just keep them solely to myself in LaLa~ Land?

I'm dead tired.

I'm living in my own sanctuary where nobody can burst,

that bubble.

Happy but sad.

You may be wondering how can I be feeling happy but sad at the same time. It's just a contradicting feeling in me now. Arrgh, I hate transition periods. Let me hope that it'll be over soon.

Had physics in the morning, taken by Miss Teo. The test was on the ramp thingy. It was the 2005 O's practical. As usual, people got scoldings because they don't know how to read instructions. Why why. Sigh. There's still some people who aren't in the mood of studying. How could it be? Prelims is just next week la. Come'on, as much as we don't like it, we still have to grit our teeth and do our best (like as if I can. Contradicting right?). Mugging can be a fun thing too, I realised. Was doing F&N when I msg'd Drey abt her school. Have a sudden impulse of going there. Haha. Probably I was feeling disgusted by all those studying. Hee. And where's Drey? It's so late yet she's still not online... yet. Haha. I'm getting bored. I wanna have fun!

Just came back from the airport (again) to welcome the arrival of my dearest mummy. She brought all the dates forward. There's good and bad, but mostly good. Haha. Because whenever she's back to Singapore from anywhere, it means: MORE GOODIES! yeah! I got new bags, clothes and wallets. I DON'T WANT TO MIGRATE!! It's good to travel but I want Singapore as my home (so patriotic yeah?). I can't believe it. Anyway, no matter what, I'm going to finish at least my diploma here first before deciding on anything. By that time, I'll see if I want to join them there anot. Sigh. I'm going to miss my bands and friends.

So I shall enjoy and make full use of my time in Singapore (i don't want!).

Bye~

1st day in school (of the 1 week hols)

It's crap la. All my friends are happily enjoying their hols, including friends of my level (other schools). Had physics practical. There were 2 sessions. 1st half is taken by Miss Teo and the 2nd, by Mr Chandramohan (long name hor?). We did 3 pracs, the 65 deg Cel water thingy, the angle of paper clips and electric circuit. I think Mr C's biased. Haha. Cos Gabriel asked him something then he shouted at him, but when the girls asked the same thing, he explained to us patiently. Haha! Finally there's a teacher who prefers girls. Can see that Miss Teo and Mr C strike a good balance. Hehe.

Walked home with Eileen, bought bubble tea and talked at the void deck although she was running late. Haha. Weird weird. Then, I came home and slacked alot till now. Didn't have the mood to study. Well, I just did my hmwk and that's it. Shall mug tonight. Arrgh. Tomorrow's schedule will be from 10:30 a.m. to 4p.m. LONG DAY, to slack. Basically, we just go to sch and slack. Haha. There's a physics practical test tmr. omg. ~mood-less~

I shall look forward to the end of all this misery. To play at the theme park, if Drey dun mind that place. Hehe. We'll celebrate our bdays tgt. Archangel shall carry our shopping bags!! (JUST KIDDING!!) Haha.

Van shall MUG! cos O's is coming in 63 days! GOSH!

woah..

Wahaha! ShiEn's blog is very very funny lor. Especially the post on Teachers' Day celebrations on Mr Chiang, Miss Gan and Mr Mathardam. Damn hilarious man. Haha.

Now now. I watched TV this morning which I find quite pointless cos I was doing my work the whole time. Haha. [see FongYee, I'm abiding by the // rule =D]. Met Eileen, Rachel, Hwee Miang, JinGui, Meryl, XueTing, Sharana, PeiYing, PeiXian, YuanLi, HuiLing, Serene and another Serene and Crystal after arriving at VCH. You can't imagine the number of people over-dressing. Or, at least, the most exaggerating one was ShengYang. He dressed as if he's going for a coporate event, and given his image. Hee. All the band members were dressed like when we go for band prac. Haha. Cos it's nothing new. Hmm, but Eileen (Kay) wore smth I've never seen before. It was a very casual concert. For both performers and audiences. The concert's: "The Fairy's Kiss". Min-lee was as pro as usual. The artist and host were the same as the ones who performed at my sch hall. There was a different pianist and a story-teller. The story-teller is one funny guy. Haha.

Concert had an abrupt ending, or so I thought, because of all the elements. Haha. The mood wasn't right in the first place. Heard people munching on chips. So... All of them went back to AMK for food. Hwee Miang, Rach, Eileen and I went to Heeren for neo-s. Took some nice ones. Cost us $20. BOMB in the already holey wallet. Well. They were nice machines though=).

Eileen went for Church, Rach went out, Hwee Miang went home and I had dinner with friend. Everything was just so random today. The food I had didn't taste really pleasant, so I just stopped at the soup and that's my dinner. Was too grossed out to continue my meal.

Now now, wish me good ____ (whatever u can think of) for lessons with Miss Teo tmr.
It's Physics practical... I'd rather have Chemistry practical lor. Miss Teo's English too powderful that Eileen, Rach and I couldn't pick out a single word. I just realised that I'm sick! Heh. Cool.

Good night ~ Sweet dreams

Special request from FongYee

This is an entry specially dedicated/ requested by FongYee. It'll be a super long and detailed one. I mean really detailed. I shall include everyone that's part of my day today. Exclude those passer-bys.

I woke up at 8:30a.m. Err, to be more exact, it's 9. Haha, cos I lazed around for half an hour on bed while listening to my beloved Algemiz by Ferrer Ferran. I love bar 132 for 2nd mvt and bar 64 for the 1st mvt. I rummaged through my newly-built-in cupboards *grin* and I can't find that score! Sigh. That's the only score that I 'preserved' so well and now it's gone. I'm so sorry. You may wonder why am I waking up so early on a lazy Saturday morning. Hee. It's because of my expensive hobby, SHOPPING!

Met WeiLi at Junction8 at 11:30a.m. Although she was late, well. My shopping list today (though I didn't get all that I wanted): A tote, nice shirt, bling bling <--shiny pumps (peep-toed to be ideal) and a 3/4 pants. Firstly, WeiLi and I went to have our lunch at the basement. I had the extremely fragrant and delicious Mee Swa and she got the Pork Floss Egg Crepe (P.S: it's pronounced as 'creep', not 'crab') (although she had ordered the mushroom w cheese, oh well). After which, we went to the 4th floor and walked past Cristofori; I muttered about getting another piano. Sigh. Mama (Grandma) don't allow me to shift the piano here. Sob. I'm so deprived! Or maybe I'll just get a synthesizer (addicted to Eileen's one). Next, we went to Seiyu and expectedly, I drool'd on the pretty bags (tote) by Nike. Thought of buying it, but it's way off budget and it'll go out-of-fashion very soon. Then, we went to Esprit (P.S: it's pronounced as 's-pree', not 'as-prit'). Saw nothing basically. Seems that the outlet didn't replenish their stocks or am I there too frequent? Heh. I'm a member. Forget that last one, you won't get the link. We gave up on the common areas and headed for the teenager's place (you'll know if you're a frequent shopper, haha!). I got that Universal World tote, after much considerations. Ahh, and WeiLi is a fanatic for shoes! She tries on ALL the shoes at every shop we go to. Like, WOW, I'm too lazy to do that, compared to her. Haha. Got my nice shirt from B.U.M. Luckily it was on sale, if not it would've cost a bomb. WeiLi got her shoes from Charles and Keith. She went totally crazy over it. Haha. Failed to find my shoe and pants there. Before going down to Boon Lay, she went to 7-11 to get a drink and guess what are they selling there? Bananas! I thought of the monkeys right after seeing that. Hmmm. We got really chatty during the journey and got hyper enough to continue shopping at Jurong Point. Hey, Desmond Koh's there to host those shopping centre's game show. Btw, John Little has a very limited amount of variety of shades. The nosepads are all crooked too. Lol. Tough job trying them on. Just for fun. The shoe fanatic went crazy again. Yea, with all that shoes. She made me try them on too, those bling bling ones. Haha. Proceeded to The Wallet Shop to get her classy pouch. I chose it for her. It's black with a classy vintage-looking butterfly on it. Nice. Bought Mac's 50cents ice-cream cone and ate it on the way to the bus interchange. ShaoXiong was behind us and gave me a shock, thanks ah. Ha. Two buses went before I finished my cone.

When I reached SCC, MeowLeng, ShaoXiong, ShiNi, Thomas and NiKee already started their Daimoku (then did i realise I forget to bring my beads and Gongyo book, oops. Luckily I've memorised the whole Gongyo book.). WeiLi and I joined in followed by Alice. Others only came in at 4p.m. Such as Adeline, Desmond, FongYee, Faith, the tenor guy (sorry, I forgot your name) and many more.. I really forget who's who. Sigh. Memory's failing on me. It was a sectionals day. Expected very much by the attendance. Btw, concert's on 20th Jan '07 and Mr Jacomo's coming in very very soon. Next week? So members, pls come for prac. Everyone makes a BIG difference, all right. Even Mr Jacomo bothers to come down. So as members, pls put in that little effort. Call and ask me for the schedule. Back to the prac today. I went to do the lib as usual. I can't find Mononoke's original and i panicked. Called Alice out and find together. After squirming through those super-packed scores, only did we realised that it was just right in front of us. Crap. Ha. MeowLeng took the winds sectionals. Play'd Mermaid. Desmond and I kept quiet about the parts we have before them and we slacked alot. haha. We helped ShaoXiong on the latin part, though. See how helpful we are? Yet he still say that I got the rhythm wrong. hee. Everyone knows that I'm not the one and we had a small laugh about it. Nonetheless, i continued helping him. Sigh. ShiNi was seating at one side the whole time cos her instrument is sent for repair. WeiLi went off halfway cos she had to go to NUS. GuangYi came in and took us for Sound of Music and Pirates (my request+fav). Why were they shocked when I say let's go through the whole of Pirates? Hmm. It's nice, if we play it nicely, of cos. Heh. This is the first time I'm playing the Orchestral arrangement also. There's alot of bar rest, so we just sang. (Choir, LaLa~). GuangYi 'collapsed' after that. Wahaha! Due to my request (again), we played Mononoke out of our own accord. Desmond's very obliging. Haha. Shan Shan was tired and pleaded to go home. I got scolded just now! by MeowLeng. Actually, I dunno for what oso. I was merely answering to Desmond's question. "I only have the recording for Mononoke" <--does that sound rude to you? I didn't know why, but I cried, silently. Slowly, I regained myself and got high once again. Faith, GuangYi and I helped the percussion section (FongYee and Kenneth, today) with the moving back of instruments. I insisted on carrying all the huge and heavy instruments. Thanks to my stubborness of refusing all given help, I'm having blueblacks and scratches all over my hands. Arrgh, painful. nvm. Chi De Ku Zhong Ku, Fang Wei Ren Shang Ren. That's what I heard YewKay saying to me. I was too busy avoiding scratches. Haha. Kenneth's worried that the Double Bass will crash on me and that I'll have my arm fractured by carrying the Chinese Orchestra's instrument. Especially the last one that I brought in. I can never describe how heavy it is. I spent 10min to shift it back for that 10steps distance. Or not, longer. When Faith, FongYee and I were about to leave for dinner, I realised that YewKay was giving out FREE Gongyo books to the Strings' kids. I want it too!! I want!! Sob. Mine's torn and tattered. Sigh. Diligent ppl (like me, heh) nowadays have no fringe benefits anymore. Sigh again. Btw, Tommy was hiding behind the door. Hah. Audrey's missed!

Dinner was at Mos (Burger i mean, not Ministry of Sound, sadly.Ha). It was FongYee, Faith and I. All 3 of us had the Kakiage (P.S: pronounced as 'ka-ki-a-gei') rice burger. *Burp* Excuse me, it was very filling. Oops, I forget the things that they want me to post. FongYee did mention that my previous blogskin was nice. Sad to say, I didn't host the pictures. Heh. We went home by the MRT. I was sms-ing the whole time. Hah. I found out a way to check how much $ have I left in my edusave account. Not bad not bad. It's more than my savings. Faith knew me by my heart. She knew what was I thinking. Gosh. She's a psychic.

Reached home at 10:08 p.m. I discovered a new pair of pants in my wardrobe. Hehe. Must be from Aunt Chris. Yes, she's the only one who'll surprise me with things and always places them in the wardrobe. I got psychic powers too! Cos I didn't buy that pants. I think I'll make do with the shoes that I have. Arrgh.. My legs are now aching from the fatigue of wearing that super high wedges for shopping. My hands for moving the instrument too. Oh ya, Faith wants me to blog that she injured her leg whilst moving the perc instruments. lol. I'm now discussing about some serious matters with the psychic girl. :P

Shall sleep on my bed before slapping myself against my lappy (by falling asleep).
And meet Eileen tomorrow for the concert. Till then. =)

(Longest post? Hmm)

Dedicated to FongYee.
